Westwood Art Month at the Bama

The talented students of Westwood Elementary , the Arts Council's Adopt-a-School partner, will be featured in two events taking place at the Bama Theatre during the month of May. “Westwood Art Month at the Bama” will include an exhibit of visual art in the Junior League Gallery and a choral concert featuring the Westwood Singers and the Handbell Choir.

The art exhibit will feature works created by Westwood students and will be on display May 5 - 23. Winning pieces will be chosen from grades K – 2 and grades 3 – 5 with an overall Best of Show also awarded. An annual event, the display will feature traditional media such as pencil, watercolor, and photography plus mixed media and collage. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 8am -5pm and admission is free. To visit the exhibit, enter through the Arts Council offices, located on the second floor of the PARA Building , adjacent to the Bama Theatre.

The Westwood Singers will present the musical A Small Part of the World by Sally Albrecht on Thursday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bama Theatre. Also featured in the performance will be the Westwood Bell Chimes and the Westwood Ensemble. The musical and vocal ensembles are directed by Aldis Donald with piano accompanist Merry Livingston. The Bell Chimes are conducted by Jennifer Manning.

Admission to the musical is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under. The art exhibit will be open for viewing prior to the concert. For more information call 758-5195, x6.
